Golden Eagles Information - Site Map
Golden Eagles are magnificent birds, which can be found in the North America, Europe and Asia and they play a vital role in the formation of natural environment. Unfortunately, in the 20th century their population shrank drastically due to human poaching into their habitat, but now Eagles, both Bald and Golden ones receive substantial support from habitat management and conservation projects.
Golden Eagles are territorial. They defend their nests and do not allow other animals to approach them. They are extremely sensitive to human interference; therefore they choose remote places for nesting.
In the 1950 many Golden Eagles were killed by ranch keepers, who claimed they were a menace to livestock. Therefore the population of Golden Eagles started dropping at a threatening rate.
Golden Eagles are named so for a patch of golden feathers on the nape of the neck. This feature is only intrinsic to mature species. Immature eagles have distinctive white markings on the underside of the wings near the tips and white tails.
